About the Area

Hayden Island

An island neighborhood on the Columbia River with marinas, river views and easy access to everything Portland and Vancouver offer.

Island Living in Portland

A Riverfront Retreat Minutes from the City

Hayden Island sits at Portland's northern edge, right on the Oregon–Washington border. It's a unique part of the city where marinas, floating homes and riverfront condos share the shoreline, and many homes enjoy sweeping views of the Columbia River, the Interstate Bridge and, on clear days, Mount Hood.

Waterside is one of the island's premier condo buildings, located at 707 N Hayden Island Dr. Residents enjoy a quieter, resort-like pace of life while still being close to downtown Portland, Vancouver and PDX Airport.

What You'll Love About Hayden Island

Life on the Water

Hayden Island is surrounded by the Columbia River and North Portland Harbor, and it's home to several marinas and floating home communities. Waterside residents have access to the building's own marina, and kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing and boating are right outside the door.

Outdoors & Recreation

Riverfront walking paths, sandy beaches on the island's west end and wide-open river views make daily walks feel like a getaway. Kelley Point Park, the 40-Mile Loop trail and several golf courses along Marine Drive are a short drive away.

Shopping & Dining

Jantzen Beach Center sits on the island with big-name retailers and everyday conveniences, and Oregon's lack of sales tax makes it a regional shopping destination. Waterfront restaurants and casual eateries are close by, with downtown Vancouver's waterfront just across the bridge.

Close to PDX

Portland International Airport is roughly 15 minutes away, making Hayden Island one of the most convenient Portland neighborhoods for frequent travelers.

Getting Around

Interstate 5 runs through the island, putting downtown Portland about 15 minutes south and Vancouver, WA just across the Interstate Bridge. TriMet bus service connects the island to North Portland and the MAX Yellow Line at Expo Center.

A Bit of History

From 1928 to 1970 the island was home to Jantzen Beach Amusement Park, once one of the largest amusement parks in the country. Its historic carousel became a beloved Portland icon, and today the island blends that heritage with relaxed riverfront living.
